My name is Reginald Jefferson, and I’m reaching out with a deeply personal request.

I am currently in need of a living kidney donor.

I hold a doctorate in Counseling Education and Supervision and serve as the Assistant Director of Student Counseling Services and a college professor at Prairie View University. My life’s work has been centered on helping others—guiding students through challenges, supporting their mental health, and encouraging them to believe in their ability to overcome adversity.

In May 2025, my own journey took a life-changing turn when I underwent a right below-knee amputation. It was a difficult chapter, but one that strengthened my resilience and deepened my understanding of perseverance. I continued to move forward, committed to my purpose and to the students and community I serve.

Today, I face another major challenge. I am on dialysis three times a week, and while it sustains me, it is not a permanent solution. Dialysis is physically and emotionally demanding, and it limits the life I am able to live. A kidney transplant would give me the opportunity to regain my strength, my independence, and my ability to fully engage in the work and life I care so deeply about.

Living kidney donation is an incredible act of generosity and compassion. Many people don’t realize that a healthy individual can live a full and active life with just one kidney. Donors go through a thorough evaluation process to ensure their safety, and their gift has the power to save and transform a life.

I am single, but I am supported by a community of students, colleagues, and loved ones who mean a great deal to me. Still, finding a donor often requires reaching beyond those immediate circles.

If you have ever considered becoming a living donor, I humbly ask that you consider learning more. Even if donation is not something you can do, sharing my story could help it reach someone who can.

As someone who has dedicated his life to helping others find hope and healing, I now find myself asking for help in return.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you may offer—whether through consideration, sharing, or simply keeping me in your thoughts.

With gratitude and hope,

Dr. Reginald Jefferson
